Independent journalists have been called responsible for “violation of the rules of holding street rallies”, though they were just collecting information about the rally in support of the native language on February 21, Radio Svaboda informs.

On 20 February Lelchytsy district court fined Catholic priest Vital Myshona BYR 105,000 for failing to follow the rulings by the local geodetic department following the installation of a cross in the town of Lelchytsy.
The priest was accused of unauthorized installation of a Catholic cross.

A number of local human rights activists lodged a claim against several plainclothes policemen, who disturbed public order and violated the rights of Zhodzina residents during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian People’s Republic on 23 March, 2008. The victims include journalist Dzianis Borykau and the BPF’s local office leaders Sviatlana and Aliaksei Lapitskis.
